Ford Escape - What the Auto Press Says
The 2011 Ford Escape ranks 13 out of 23 Affordable Compact SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 21 published reviews and test drives of the Ford Escape, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The 2011 Ford Escape is available in a number of combinations that is sure to satisfy your needs, but reviewers say that the compact SUV is showing its old age.
The Ford Escape lead the compact SUV segment back when it was first introduced in 2001. Although changes have continued to be made to the Escape over the last ten years of its lifecycle, the fact of the matter is that this crossover still dates back to when Clinton was in office.
Tech-junkies, however, will find much to like in the 2011 Escape. Ford has added HD Radio this year and this feature compliments the much loved SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement.
"Ford's compact crossover has its strengths, including an excellent six-speed automatic transmission, comfortable passenger accommodations, and the availability of a gas/electric hybrid model," says Consumer Guide. Still, they add that the Escape "suffers from crude-sounding engines, low-rent cabin appointments, and a basic design that's nearly a decade old. Don't outright dismiss it, but check out Escape's competitors first."
The compact SUV class is large enough that buyers who cross-shop will find plenty of better-rounded -- and sometimes even more affordable -- options.
Wow, the Ford Escape are so nice. I have to get one for myself.
